Update, Forecasting Need for Court Facilities, Ontario

We refined and updated a method for forecasting the long-range the demand for courtrooms that we developed in the recent past. The model is used to establish initial estimates of space shortages to assist in determining capital planning priorities. It is also used to develop initial estimates of scope in the definition of new capital projects. Finally, the model provides a starting point and method to work with local stakeholders to define the scale of individual building projects. The model is based on population projections but allows for the results to be tempered with informed judgment. We established courtroom capacity factors based on the actual use of courtrooms across Ontario. The scope of our work included training our client's staff. Completed in 2010.
