Enrolment Trends and Facilities Plan, North Vancouver School District, BC
School District 44 (North Vancouver)
We prepared a long-term comprehensive district-wide facilities plan for the North Vancouver School District (NVSD). NVSD has more than 18,000 students in 32 elementary and seven secondary schools. Enrolment in NVSD schools peaked in the recent past and were expected to continue to decline for at least another ten years. Our initial objective was to prepare enrolment forecasts taking into account local knowledge from local government planners as well as NVSD administrators. Next, we assembled considerable existing data on building condition, real estate values and operational efficiencies to formulate alternative future facilities scenarios. Finally, we worked with a client committee to evaluate future facilities options and selected the most promising to present to the School Board for direction. Completed in 2004.
