Long-Range Facilities Plan, Vernon School District, BC
School District 22 (Vernon)
This project had three interrelated components: a long-range, district-wide facilities plan; a feasibility study for Vernon Secondary School; and a feasibility study for Middleton Mountain Elementary School. The goal of the long-range plan was to provide an inclusive picture of the facilities required at the five, ten and fifteen year planning horizons. We developed enrolment forecasts, reviewed attendance boundaries, identified possible school closures, defined the need for new school, and determined the school site acquisition charge. We defined the size and nature of the future Vernon Secondary School, and worked with MQN Architects to compare renovation and new construction. We defined the required size of the proposed new Middleton Mountain Elementary School and revised the attendance boundaries with adjacent schools. Completed in 2006.
