School Site Acquisition Charge, School District 62, Colwood, BC
School District 62 (Sooke)
The purpose of the School Site Acquisition Charge (SSAC) is to help pay for new school sites required as a result of residential development. We began by presenting the key concepts of the SSAC Implementation Guide to a group of local government politicians and staff. Our analytical work included estimating the amount of future residential development and the number of students likely to be generated by the new development. We synthesized the School District's long–term facilities plan; calculated the charge; and documented the results in a summary report to be reviewed by all stakeholders. Later, we assisted in consultation with local government. Completed in 2001.
