Kootenay Lake District Hospital, Nelson, BC
Kootenay Lake District Hospital
We collaborated with a multi–disciplinary team of architects, engineers and cost consultants to prepare a Redevelopment Plan for the Kootenay Lake District Hospital. Planning was based on a future capacity of 89 beds: maternity, intensive care, surgical, pediatrics, and medical. Our work included a technical building evaluation; facilities programs for 23 components; blocking and stacking schematic concepts; definition of construction phases; and preliminary cost estimates. We also examined the possibility of a freestanding clinic to be located adjacent to the hospital. The plan for redevelopment of the hospital called for a one–fifth increase of the existing space to an estimated total of 10 214 m2 for an estimated cost of $12.0 million. Completed in 1991.
