New Haven Correctional Centre, Burnaby, BC

New Haven is an adult open custody centre oriented toward young men with relatively high rehabilitation potential. Residents work during the day in farm and workshop programs, and attend compulsory evening educational programs. The Centre houses 46 offenders in a combination of dormitory and cottage living units. We prepared a facilities program for two sets of facilities: a new central services building to accommodate administrative, program and support functions; and twelve resident beds in two new six–bed duplex residence units. Completed in 1993.
