Analysis of Courthouse Construction Costs, BC
BC Buildings Corporation
We were part of a team analyzing ways to reduce the construction cost of courthouses. Our contribution focused on five areas: comparing area allocations to government standards for office space; comparing area allocations with earlier standards for court facilities; identifying possible cost reductions due to changes in space programs for courthouses; identifying possible cost reductions related to changes in planning principles and key operational premises; presenting alternatives for estimating circulation and other non–assigned areas. Later, we helped analyze the designed areas of the Port Coquitlam Courthouse, one of the four courthouses studied. Completed in 1994.
