Design Review, Whitehorse Young Offenders Centre, Yukon
Yukon Health and Social Services - Yukon Public Works
The Government of Yukon had proposed that the Whitehorse Young Offender Centre be renovated to provide two new quiet rooms to assist in resident management. We were asked to review four proposed design options based on operational and security implications. We reviewed a previously completed functional assessment of the facility and spoke with Department of Health and Social Services staff. It was concluded that only one additional room was required. We identified the potential operational benefits and problems associated with the four alternate locations. Completed in 1998.
