We prepared facilities programs for three development options for new criminal court facilities for the Ontario and Superior Courts. Option 1A was a 52–courtroom facility for the Ontario Court only. Option 1B was a 36–courtroom building for criminal matters from the Superior Court. Option 2 was a consolidated criminal court of 88 courtrooms. We also defined the needs of the Office of the Chief Justice as a potential addition to each of the options. The project was characterized by extensive consultation. We refined and applied our space allocation model to prepare initial programs. We addressed many unique requirements due to the large scale and special circumstances of the largest criminal court in Canada. Completed in 2000.
